Christine Houston is the creator of the 1980s NBC sitcom “227.” She wants to inspire and teach young children to strive to do better in life. Houston feels it is extremely difficult for children living in economically depressed communities to receive higher education.
The education they do receive is subpar by far. St. Agatha Catholic Church has started a program called The News School. This adopted program is fully based on all children, students, and interns being treated as one of the family. The News School boldly encourages students — from eighth grade to college.
According to Houston, The News School’s “process is designed to help” students and interns “excel in both reading and writing.” She further states that The News School Program gives “them access to the highest standards of formal education.”
Houston believes that everyone needs to “set a higher standard for ourselves.”
We need to own up to the obligations we have to our children.
Adding further she says that “the time has come for unconventional, yet effective methods of learning to start becoming conventional.”
